Lecture 7 - Colour Theory

Colour Theory explains the way people perceive colors, the artistic and emotional information conveyed by colors. Colour Theory is both the science and the art of using colour.

RGB VS CMYK
  • RGB
RGB is additive color mixing mode, color is produced by mixing red, green and blue light.

  • CMYK
CMYK is a subtractive blending mode where color is produced by subtraction of light.

Hue、Shade、Tint、Tone
  • Hue
Hue is the color of an object and is the most basic color term.
  • Shade
Shade is the addition of black to the hue.
  • Tint
Tint adds white to the hue.
  • Tone
Tone is the addition of black and white (or gray) to the hue.

Complementary VS Split-Complementary
  • Complementary
Complementary is the opposite on the color wheel, its point is to produce high contrast.

  • Split-Complementary
Split-Complementary is the use of three colors.

Warm VS Cool
  • Warm colours
Warm colors can make people feel happy and attract more attention, and are often used in warning signs.

  • Cool colours
Cool colors are calmer and can be used to express sadness. Purple can stimulate creativity.

Black VS White
  • Black
Black is rarely used, but works well as a primary color element. Black gives a feeling of sophistication, elegance and mystery.

  • White
White is the primary color, giving people a clean, virtuous and healthy feeling. White is a great secondary color and goes with almost any color.

FEEDBACK

Week 7 :This week Mr.Fauzi asked us to hand in all the homework of the previous weeks at the end of the day line. In the evening online course taught us new knowledge, first took us to understand the color, and then taught us how to make a harmonious poster with color.
