LECTURES
Lecture 6 - POSTER DESIGN
The basic principles of design are: emphasis, balance and alignment, contrast,
repetition, proportion, movement and white space.
Fig.6
The 7 principles of poster design :
1. EMPHASIS
Designers must follow design principles in order to create compositions that
are both effective and attractive.
2. Balance and alignment
3. CONTRAST
The contrast is off the page. Contrast creates space and difference between
your design elements.
4. REPETITION
Repetition can unify and strengthen the design.
5. PROPORTION
Proportion is the visual size and weight of the elements in a composition, and
their relationship to each other.
6. MOVEMENT
Movement is the element that controls the composition. Movement creates the
story or narrative of the work.
7. WHITE SPACE
White space or negative white space is the only space dedicated to dealing
with no additions. Giving your composition more space can go from mediocrity
to success.

Import the image and create a new layer and name it "face".
Select the Brush Tool and resize it.
Pick a color you like and paint over your face with a brush.
Create a new layer and paint out the hair.
Apply the same method to the mouth, eyes, clothes.
Select the wall with the lasso tool.
A little color adjustment is my final result :
This is a black and white photo, I followed the video tutorial to adjust the
color.
First, use the hair and skin color materials given by Mr.Fauzi to
extract the color.
