INSTRUCTIONS

TASK

Requirements

  • Using your Project 1 Instructable Infographic Poster as the base
  • A 60‑second animated infographic video (PAIR / group)
  • An updated reflective blog / e‑portfolio documenting your process (individual)

Project Selection

Script, Storyboard and Animatic

Lou YuHan and I divided the work for each part. She did the first half of the script, storyboard, and animation, and I completed the second half.

I drew all the sketches using Procreate. After completing the sketches, I selected a Canva template and put our ideas into it.

Color selection

During the color selection phase, we didn't set a fixed color scheme from the beginning. We decided to use the main color scheme of Project One as a reference, choosing similar but more eye-catching colors for the animation. This choice maintained the consistency of the original visual style while enhancing the readability and visual impact of the information.

Font selection

During the font selection phase, we initially tried using a handwritten font to increase friendliness, but in practice we found that it was not readable enough and not formal enough. In the end, we chose two fonts: one for the body text to ensure clarity and readability, and the other for titles or explanatory text to highlight the hierarchy of information and maintain a consistent overall style.

Digitalization

To highlight the steps and information logic, I displayed the text and images one by one, while adding a sense of dynamism through scaling and rotation effects.

To make the information easier to understand, I added fade-in/fade-out transitions and simple motion transitions between each step to ensure smooth screen transitions.

After we finished the first draft, we showed it to Sir for review. He said that the text could have a longer pause time and that we could add some small sound effects.

I controlled the text content separately using a Text Layer, setting an appropriate dwell time to give viewers enough time to read. To enhance the viewing experience, I also added some basic sound effects,  to make the animation more vivid.

Final Outcome

FEEDBACK

Week 7
Sir said the animation was good, but the text moved too fast and the audience might not have enough time to read it clearly and including some simple sound effects to make the video clearer and more engaging.

REFLECTIONS

Experience

In this final project, I worked with my partner, Lou YuHan, to create a 60-second animated infographic video based on my Project 1 instructable infographic poster about how to make cheese egg dumplings. We first discussed the direction of the video and decided to use my previous infographic as the main visual foundation. Then, we developed the script, storyboard, and animatic to plan the sequence and flow of the animation. After that, we moved on to digitalizing and arranging the visual elements into motion. When we completed the first draft, we showed it to Sir for feedback and made revisions before finalizing the video.

Observations

During this project, I noticed that turning a static infographic into a moving video requires more attention to timing and pacing. Unlike a poster, an animated infographic needs viewers to have enough time to read and understand the information before the next scene appears. I also observed that small details, such as pause duration and sound effects, can greatly affect the clarity and overall viewing experience. Working with a partner also made the process more efficient because we could share ideas and improve the animation together.

Findings

Through this project, I learned that animated infographic design is not only about moving visuals, but also about making sure the information remains clear and easy to follow. I found that good timing, readable text, and suitable audio details are important for effective communication in motion graphics. This project also helped me improve my understanding of how to adapt a static design into a dynamic format while keeping the content educational and visually engaging.
